A mother of 4, she has been participating in the project “Inclusive Recycling”, which promotes the recognition, dignification and inclusion of informal recyclers in municipal solid waste management systems.

Ledya Pekandy comes from Mossul and now lives in Ankawa, a district of Erbil in Iraq. For two years she worked as an IT assistant, a job she got through a friend. Meanwhile she doesn't work in this job anymore. She points out: "It frustrated me, my morale was bad."

"Mama" Milka Anyango Atieno was born in Kobura, a neighboring town of Ahero. She got married in Ahero and had two children, but lost her family. Currently she is living in a small house right next to the Community Based Organisation (CBO), a local support group. She works as a cook for the kindergarten and is responsible for orphan feeding.
