
Corona-Virus - Honduras
According to the Global Health Security Index, very few countries in Latin America are prepared for a pandemic as poorly as Honduras. The government has imposed several strict restrictions. This made it even harder for coffee farmers in our project region Nahuaterique to survive.

Corona virus - Ethopia
In Ethiopia, the corona virus is exacerbating a threatening situation. Ethiopia is one of the East African countries which were badly affected by the worst locust plague in the past 25 years. Many small farmers lost all of their produce.

Corona virus - Mexico
The social distancing measures were extended until at least 1st of June. This puts families in a difficult situation. Income in many households is significantly reduced, endangering food security. Our local partner SiKanda distributes food packages to 130 families. They are also planning on equipping recyclers at landfill sites with protective clothing.

Corona virus - India
Our local partner in India AIILSG is anticipating very negative consequences for children due to the corona crisis. Around the world it’s mostly the elderly being harmed by the virus. However, in India, the young are particularly vulnerable due to extremely poor health, malnutrition and higher infection rates. Ever since the outbreak of COVID-19 the violence against children is increasing.

Corona virus - Sierra Leone
At the end of March, the first case of Coronavirus was reported in the country. The president employed COVID-19 response team and the country went under lockdown. Our aim is to help the situation with our local partner SEND. The plan is educating people, distributing hygienic products and feeding families in need.

Corona virus - Nepal
So far there have only been few confirmed corona cases in Nepal. A potential large-scale outbreak, however, would have a serious effect on the health system. Our local partner International Nepal Fellowship (INF) is making contingency plans for a potential spread in its hospitals in Pokhara, Nepalgunj and Surkhet.

Corona virus - Kenya
Locusts invasions, floods, diseases and now coronavirus – those were the hardships the people of Kenya had to deal with in the past few months. Hunger and despair are growing by the day. Kenyan media is reporting on more than 13,000 displaced people due to severe flooding in Kisumu county.
